German Potato Noodles Recipe: A delicious and comforting dish

German potato noodles, also known as Kartoffelklöße, Schupfnudeln, or Kartoffelteig, are a traditional German dish that is easy to make and incredibly delicious. These finger-shaped noodles are made from a batter of mashed potatoes, flour and eggs and can be served as a main dish or a side dish.

In this article, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process of making German potato noodles and share some tips to ensure they're perfect.

raw materials:

  • 2 lbs. Potatoes peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 egg
  • salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • Butter
  • bread crumbs

instructions:

Cook the potatoes in boiling water until soft, then drain and let cool.

Mash the potatoes until smooth and without lumps.

Add flour, eggs, salt, pepper and a pinch of nutmeg to the mashed potatoes and knead the mixture until it forms a dough.

On a floured surface, roll the dough into thin logs, then cut them into small pieces about 1 inch long.

Press the pieces with a fork or gnocchi board to create ridges that help the sauce stick to the noodles.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the noodles and cook for 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface.

Melt some butter in a separate pan and add some bread flour.

Drain the noodles and toss them with the buttered breadcrumbs, and serve immediately.
